Louisville Code Enforcement Board upholds multiple fines, schedules compliance checks and continuances

The Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board held its March 28 hearing and on multiple docket items upheld citations, set compliance dates and continued cases pending court or repair actions.
Board member Chris Wonteland opened the session, introduced board members and staff and reminded participants the hearing operates under Kentucky open-records statutes and that testimony is given under oath. Code enforcement supervisor Lakin Girdley presented several case summaries and inspection photos during the hearing.
Wonteland announced the board would uphold pre-conference orders read by staff and then addressed a series of no-shows. He upheld the $350 citation for nonappearance in the case concerning 3024 Southern Avenue, and likewise upheld a $350 fine for 311 Woodbine Street, stating the respondents did not appear. He also upheld a $500 fine for 2624 Madison Street for nonappearance.
The board confirmed that a conditional discharge remained in place for 3217 Fort Haven: Eric Gephardt, who appeared, was told the condition is that there be no further contact at the address for one year for the matter to be removed.
Staff noted a separate case involving 1111 Second Street (citation ENF--24-014085) had notice sent; Wonteland noted a $700 fine for nonappearance was on the record. Several other matters were rescheduled or passed for status checks to allow additional court proceedings or access for repairs.
The board also granted a continuance in a foreclosure-related matter at 2230 Date Street to allow a pending judicial sale to proceed, and set future hearing dates including May and June sessions for status reviews. The board reiterated procedures for virtual and in-person attendance before moving on to the remainder of the docket.
