Jesse Stroud of the Area Community Theater told the council the theater is entering tech week for a Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas production with six performances; early shows are selling quickly and one Sunday matinee was already sold out. Stroud said the theater will host a free student matinee for roughly 280 local students on Dec. 10 funded by a $7,000 ticket donation and that buses will be provided by local businesses.
Stroud announced a Dec. 16 concert by Sean Johnson (an Emmy‑award‑winning performer) with tickets priced at $35 and said some tickets may be available as prizes at upcoming chamber events. He also announced auditions in December for an upcoming production and described holiday fundraising activities, including a pay‑what‑you‑can concert to help fund ADA improvements.
"Since I've been working at the Area Community Theater, I have really been focusing on our middle name, which is community," Stroud said, inviting residents to attend and support the theater’s outreach programs. No council action was required on Stroud’s announcements.
