The chair said Hendon had not yet filed his statement of economic interest but would do so; the committee moved to "advise and consent" and reported the nomination out.
The panel next considered Senate Nomination No. 42 for Jonathan McClendon, who owns Biloxi Shrimp Company and represents commercial processors on the commission, according to the chair. The peer report initially noted McClendon had not filed a statement of economic interest; the chair said McClendon filed that document the same morning. The chair also said the peer report identified personal civil claims that were resolved in June 2023. The committee voted to advise and consent; Senator Seymour was recorded as voting present.
Senate Nomination No. 43 for Cam Robards was introduced as the recreational-angler representative; the chair said Robards is a general contractor and part owner of Chandler Island Brewing Company in Gulfport. The committee noted Robards needed to file a statement of economic interest and that staff would notify him; no derogatory information was reported, and the nomination was reported out after a motion to advise and consent.
Finally, the committee heard Senate Nomination No. 75 for Matthew Mayfield of Ocean Springs, identified as representing the commercial-fishing sector and as owner of Eagle Point Oyster Company and a local barbecue business. Senator Williams praised Mayfield and noted Mayfield appears in a regional C Spire commercial; Senator Delano also spoke in support. A senator asked that one comment be stricken from the record; the committee confirmed that all statements of economic interest would be filed before the nominations go to the full floor and reported the nomination out after a motion to advise and consent.
