Meade County History Museum asks fiscal court to consider buying its building and assist lease negotiations

He also asked that the court appoint someone to help negotiate the lease when it comes up in September because, he said, as a private representative he felt it would not be appropriate for him to negotiate taxpayer funds. "I can't really negotiate in good faith with the money that's not mine," he said, requesting that a committee or appointed individual assist with negotiations.
Court members asked for basic financial details (rent and parcel size) and the speaker said he would talk to the landlord and provide price information to the judge's office. No formal action was taken at the meeting; staff and the judge indicated they would follow up.
The request will need further county staff review and any decision to purchase would require formal action by the fiscal court.
