Staff announced the county received a $139,080 grant for a rubber‑modified asphalt resurfacing project on Flaherty Road and said a preconstruction meeting with Mako Construction has been held; staff are awaiting a contractor start date. "We did receive a $139,080 for a rubber modified asphalt project for Flaherty Road," the grants presenter said.
Officials also discussed outreach with the Ohio River Way organization about riverway promotion and potential earmarked funds to address erosion at Riverfront Park. The Army Corps of Engineers has been involved in assessing damage, but with statewide flood recovery work ongoing, the Corps has prioritized immediate emergencies and the county has no firm timeline for Corps‑led work.
The court approved the necessary resolutions to accept KYTC flex funds for selected county roads (projects discussed in the meeting totaled roughly $302,000). Staff said the flex funds derive from state fuel taxes and are awarded annually; the county will select additional roads for the next season.
The county will provide additional reporting and timeline updates to the court as contractor schedules and state approvals are confirmed.
