New Campbell County police officer sworn in; extension agent Michelle Simon honored for AgCenter work

At the opening of the meeting the Campbell County Fiscal Court administered the oath of office to Daniel Bailey, who recited the statutory oath and pledged to support the U.S. and Kentucky constitutions and to faithfully execute the duties of a Campbell County Police Department officer.

Judge Pender welcomed Bailey and offered congratulations, noting Bailey's previous federal experience and that the department and fiscal court will support his work.

Later in the meeting the court presented a citation to Michelle Simon, recognizing her role as an extension agent and her leadership in developing the Campbell County Extension Center agricultural complex. The citation credited Simon with restoring large‑animal veterinary care to the county for the first time in more than a decade and establishing services such as blood testing, soil and hay analysis, safe livestock handling infrastructure and farmer‑led sales space. Simon accepted the court's appreciation and noted the grand opening and tours scheduled for Friday at the former Crowley veterinarian center.

The court's remarks emphasized community and continuity: restoring veterinary access and creating an AgCenter were framed as steps to keep farming viable for future generations.
