Christian County Fiscal Court approves interlocal jail agreement, MOA with development services, theater bid and personnel actions

Christian County Fiscal Court on July 9 approved several routine and one-time actions, including an interlocal jail agreement with Graves County, a memorandum of agreement with community development services, the award of an audio-system upgrade contract for the Alhambra Theater, personnel appointments and other routine expenditures.
Interlocal jail agreement: The court approved an agreement to house Graves County inmates at the Christian County jail. An unidentified speaker said negotiations with Graves County followed the tornado that destroyed that county’s jail and left inmates dispersed across the region; the arrangement will remain in place until Graves County can resume operations.
Memorandum of agreement: The court approved a memorandum of agreement with the county’s community development services describing responsibilities including completion of subdivision guidelines and other planning services.
Alhambra Theater bid award: The court reviewed two bids to upgrade the Alhambra Theater audio system. Music Central submitted the low bid for $102,357.70; the other bid was $199,009.93 from BCS. Court members noted $50,000 of the project would be paid from transit rent tax funds and approved the contract.
Personnel and appointments: The court reappointed Don Pemberton to the Southwest Economic Development Board to represent agriculture. It approved hiring Kelly Layman as a part-time animal shelter attendant retroactive to July 1 (probationary period noted), hiring Anthony Webster as a co-op employee effective July 16, and removing Denise Aligo from a 90-day probation effective July 16. Motions on these items were moved, seconded and approved by the court.
Other actions: The court approved multiple routine fund expenditures (general, road & bridge, jail, LG and Gate, E901, park storage fees), a Trimble GPS receiver/firmware reimbursement, incentives and adjourned.
The court ended the meeting after taking the listed votes; formal contracts and paperwork will follow for the awarded projects and interlocal agreement.
