Supervisors approve Motorola maintenance contract, multiple trainings, hires and donations

The board approved multiple staff training requests (active shooter/workplace violence training, narcotics negotiation tactics training, relationship-building training and several dispatcher and communications courses). Several of these items were noted as 100% reimbursable by the state.
Personnel actions included the hiring of two full-time dispatchers (names recorded in the minutes) at specified rates with a one-year probationary period; the hires complete a 20-person roster noted by staff. The board also approved various sheriff’s department pay adjustments and additions to payroll as recorded in the minutes.
Additional approvals included the spread on credit-card reports, purchase of two electric heat units for $16,380, purchase of turnout gear for the Benton Fire Department, small procurement of ammunition ($158.40) on MS State contract 8200080109, and the acceptance of a $6,000 donation to the animal shelter from a local restaurant’s crawfish cook-off proceeds. The board approved document of claims for $242,703.95 and multiple procurement items; all motions carried 5-0.
