Warner Robins proclaims Parks and Recreation Month and swears in two new police officers

The Warner Robins City Council opened its June 16 meeting with ceremonial items: a proclamation declaring National Parks and Recreation Month and the swearing-in of new Warner Robins Police Department recruits.
Mayor LaRonda W. Patrick read a proclamation noting the National Recreation and Park Association’s long-standing observance and describing local parks’ roles in health, youth development and economic benefit. "So let's give a round of applause for National Park and Recreation Month in July," the mayor said as Parks & Recreation staff stood before the council.
Parks and Recreation Director Preston Poser introduced his leadership team and detailed departmental programs, noting the department employs roughly 130 people across full-time, part-time and seasonal roles and manages 15 parks, three recreation centers, a golf course and other facilities.
The mayor then administered the oath of office to new police department members. The oath included the lines recited in unison by the recruits: "I do swear or affirm that I will faithfully perform all the duties of my office ... and that I will support the Constitution of The United States and the Constitution of the state of Georgia." After the oath, the mayor welcomed the recruits as "officially the newest members of the Warner Robins Police Department." Council members publicly welcomed "Samuel" and Kyle Polino to the force during later remarks.
The ceremonial session concluded with a group photograph and applause before the council moved to other business.
