After discussion about which vendor provided the lowest responsible bid, the board voted to accept a $29,500 quote from Corkins (non‑insulated doors including labor and installation) and a $7,660 masonry quote from E and J Masonry, with the vendors to be paid from the department’s fire‑rebate line item.
Supervisor Hudson, who moved the motion, emphasized these were state‑provided rebate funds, not county general funds. “This is none generated from the county. It's all generated from the state,” a supervisor noted during discussion.
Chief Schafer asked staff to provide a clearer monthly expenditure report and the board asked the county comptroller/treasurer to confirm the rebate line‑item balance before payout.
