Grand County waives $200,000 insurance requirement for bounce-house vendor; tourism board approves short-term rental data contract

The Grand County Board of County Commissioners on July 8 approved two agenda items aimed at supporting the county fair and tourism planning.
Colorado Jumps insurance waiver and contract authority: Rianne Pesch, Grand County fair coordinator, said Colorado Jumps — the company providing bounce-house activities — had provided a $1,000,000 per-occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate certificate of insurance but could not secure the county's usual additional $200,000 requirement in the market. Staff recommended waiving the $200,000 supplemental requirement so the vendor could proceed. Commissioners approved the waiver, amended the motion to permit the chair and county manager to sign the final contract (and to stamp a signature if necessary), and directed staff to finalize contract language with legal. "We've been working with Colorado Jumps for a couple weeks ... they haven't been able to get a quote on a higher policy," Pesch said. The motion passed with all commissioners voting 'Aye.'
Tourism data (Key Data / AirDNA) agreement: Gaylene Orr of the Grand County Tourism Board presented a request to purchase Key Data short-term rental reports (sourced from AirDNA/DataFi) to track occupancy, average daily rate and short-term rental supply by town and zip code. Orr said the product would help the tourism board and local businesses monitor demand and staffing needs and that proprietary owner-level pricing is not accessible. Commissioners discussed geographic granularity and approved the Key Data software agreement for the tourism board.
Fair schedule and logistics: Pesch also reviewed the fair schedule (dog show, kickoff party Aug. 5, barrel races, goat roping, junior rodeo, Super Horse, team roping, junior livestock sale and a cookie contest) and noted employee appreciation events and banner placement around the fairgrounds.
What the approvals mean: The insurance waiver clears Colorado Jumps to be contracted for fair activities under county oversight with the chair authorized to execute documents; the Key Data purchase gives the tourism board more granular market intelligence to inform promotion and partner communications.
