Boulder County commissioners ratify ARPA contract extension, approve insurance renewal and authorize two executive sessions

Boulder County — At its July 1 business meeting the Board of County Commissioners approved several administrative actions and authorized two executive sessions for July 2.
County staff asked the board to ratify a last-minute signature on an amendment to a state-funded ARPA contract so the county may continue to spend funds reserved for rehabilitation of a Longmont fourplex on Emery Court. Jim Adams Burger of the Community Services Department said the rehab is taking longer than expected and that the amendment extends the contract through June 2026 to allow expenditure of the set-aside dollars; the board moved and approved ratification.
Ben Perlman, County Attorney, reporting for Risk Manager Ashley Baca, summarized the county’s property insurance renewal and said premiums are declining this year. Commissioners praised staff work and approved the renewal.
Deputy Natalie Sprant confirmed that executive-session topics were properly noticed at the June 24 regular business meeting and asked the board to authorize two executive sessions on Wednesday, July 2. The board approved: (1) a 10:00 a.m. session under CRS 24-6-402 to discuss potential acquisition of properties north of Hygiene, south of Lyons, and possible open-space exchanges with a municipality in Boulder County; and (2) a 1:00 p.m. session under CRS 24-6-402(4)(a) to discuss mineral rights associated with a property half a mile north of Oxford Road and just west of East County Line Road.
All motions were approved by voice vote. The board then opened the public-comment portion of the meeting and heard statements on a range of topics before adjourning.
