Miss Hudson told the board that "Baldwin County was awarded 2026 accountability court funding for the family drug court program for $139,120" and that the grant requires no local match and is provided through the county’s superior/juvenile court circuit. After a brief explanation of how the family drug court operates — "it's part of the sentencing that the judge would do if it's an option for them, to get treatment as opposed to going to jail," Miss Hudson said — a motion to approve was made and the board voted in favor.
Commissioners asked for clarification about program components; staff and another commissioner said the courts have different requirements depending on the docket, including job and compliance conditions for some participants. The motion passed with the board voting "Aye" and the chair announcing the motion carries.
The acceptance obligates the county to administer the program in partnership with the court system; no additional funding match was required, according to the staff presentation. The board did not set a further implementation timeline during the meeting.
