Commission hears plans for courthouse centennial: ornaments, brochures and limited public hours proposed

The commission indicated general consensus to proceed and encouraged coordination with volunteers and staff to unlock the building for tours on select Saturdays.
Speaker 3 said the trees and displays will be installed starting Nov. 17 with the hope of finishing before Thanksgiving and proposed having the building open the first two Saturdays before Christmas between 2 and 4 p.m., with staff or volunteers available to unlock the doors on request. The commission agreed staff should coordinate schedules and that organizers should publicize the hours and brochure information on social media.
The commission did not take a formal vote on purchasing the ornaments during the meeting; Speaker 3 said, "I'm gonna order ornaments if that's okay," and commissioners expressed informal approval. Staff will follow up with ordering details and a finalized plan for open-hours staffing.
