Developers to present final downtown Kennesaw CBD concepts, including proposed distillery relocation

City staff told the council at its June 30 work session that applicants for two central business district (CBD) projects will present final concept plans at an upcoming meeting.
One application covers a 0.6‑acre commercial pad (tract 5) and proposes relocating a distillery (referred to in the packet as Lazy Guide Distillery) to that site; the applicant (Mark Allen) and staff will provide a full presentation at the next council meeting. Staff said the project went to the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority (KDDA) on June 13 and to the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) on June 20; HPC minutes and conditions are being finalized and will be included in the packet.
A second CBD concept covers properties at 2861 and 2871 North Main Street (2871 identified as the former whistle stop). The current concept relocates a two‑story building toward Main Street to align height and massing with existing Main Street buildings rather than leaving an open plaza; HPC will review setback and resubmittal conditions before approval of construction plans.
Staff said they will upload minutes and HPC conditions in the packet ahead of the applicants' full presentation. Councilmember recusals and potential conflicts were noted where appropriate for individual items.
Next steps: full applicant presentations to council at the next meeting, followed by any required HPC resubmittals and formal agenda consideration.
