Council members recognized David Lyons for his 14 years of service to the Downtown Development Authority and thanked him for his contributions to downtown Kennesaw.
"Thank you for your dedicated service," the presiding official told Lyons during a brief presentation. Lyons said it had been his honor to serve the city and recounted moving to Kennesaw in 1994 and raising a family there. He said he and his wife plan to leave the area and encouraged others to serve the community.
Later in the meeting the council took formal action: a motion to accept Lyons' resignation from the KDDA was made, seconded and approved by unanimous vote. No additional details about the effective date of the resignation were provided in the meeting record.
