The Kennesaw Mayor and Council voted unanimously to adopt updates to the city's Capital Improvement Element (CIE) and short-term work program during the regular meeting. Daryl, a city staff member presenting the item, said the reports document how the city accounts for capital projects funded in part by impact fees and that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs reviewed and approved the documents for adoption.
"We are required by the Department of Community Affairs to create and to adopt an approved and, recently reviewed report," Daryl said, adding that the report was duly advertised and that staff recommends approval. He said the city received a letter of approval to adopt by resolution and that the annual deadline to adopt is June 30.
A motion to approve the updates was made and seconded, and councilmembers were asked to signify approval by voice or raised hand. The presiding official announced the motion passed by unanimous vote (5-0). There was no public comment on the item during its public hearing.
The adopted documents will serve as the city's official accounting of planned capital projects and the short-term project list tied to the imposition and use of impact fees. Daryl said staff believes the report meets all reporting criteria established by the Department of Community Affairs.
