Separately, staff recommended awarding the Byrd Phase 1 construction contract to the low bidder, FDM Contracting, which previously worked in the city. The recommended contract amount was approximately $1,675,691, plus a 10 percent construction contingency for a total authorization near $1.84 million. The commission authorized the mayor and clerk to sign the contract contingent on required insurance and bonds.
Staff said the Byrd project bids came in under estimate by about 4.6 percent and no budget amendment was required. The confirmed SAD for laterals is separate from the Wimbledon paving discussion and will proceed as scheduled.
