Neighbors tell commissioners RV encampment by Lehi farmers market raises sewage, safety and fire concerns

Sandy Hanks said she witnessed what she believed to be raw sewage being dumped near the market and later reported the incident to the Utah County Health Department; she said multiple trailers have since clustered on the property and that residents have found a large, growing garbage pile. "We have raw sewage being dumped, like, 30 feet from my kitchen window," Hanks said, describing the risk to neighbors and to market operations.
Katie Johnston said the site houses registered sex offenders and expressed fear for children playing nearby; she asked that every trailer be investigated to determine who is living there. "I was, of course, right there by them," she said of an incident involving an arrested person who returned nearby, underscoring safety concerns.
Kylie Heseltine and Victoria Gosling echoed safety concerns: Heseltine referenced arrests and an attempted murder at the property, and Gosling warned of electrical cords running from trailers that could present a fire hazard should dry vegetation ignite. Several speakers thanked the commission and county staff for prior responses and asked for continued action and enforcement.
Commissioners acknowledged the comments and said staff had been working on the issue; no formal action was taken during the public‑comment period, but commissioners recorded the concerns on the public record.
