Commission sets staffing and budget hearing dates, strikes elected‑official salary item and adopts Veterans Day resolution

At the Nov. 8 meeting the Utah County Commission handled several agenda items on the regular session.
Commissioners set a tentative public hearing on the 2023 staffing plan for Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the administration building and scheduled a public hearing on the 2023 general fund and other budgetary funds for Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The motion to set those dates was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
Rob Moore of the county attorney’s office explained that the code section governing elected official salary reviews is typically evaluated every two years; commissioners moved to strike agenda item 3 (a change in existing elected officer salaries) to avoid creating an off‑cycle precedent. That motion was seconded and passed.
Finally, commissioners approved a resolution recognizing Veterans Day and declaring Nov. 11, 2022 a day of service and remembrance in Utah County; the resolution passed by roll call vote.
The meeting recessed for a closed session item and then adjourned.
