Utah County authorizes resolution to begin disposal of 0.98-acre parcel near North County Boulevard

The Utah County Commission on Tuesday authorized a resolution to begin the process to dispose of a 0.9785‑acre parcel at 9826 North 4800 West, near North County Boulevard and Harvey Boulevard.

Rob Moore of the county attorney's office told the commission the property meets the county definition of a "significant parcel" because multiple offers received exceed $500,000, and state law and county code require a public hearing before disposal. Moore said the parcel's tax serial number is 140030399 and that the county bought the land as part of North County Boulevard improvements using quarter‑cent funds; any sale proceeds would be returned to that funding source for future purchases.

"Just for your information, we have received multiple offers on this property, all of which exceed $500,000," Moore said during the hearing. Richard Nelson, the county's public works director, corrected the acquisition timing and confirmed the parcel was purchased more recently than some earlier related acquisitions.

The commission opened the public hearing at 3:00 p.m., heard Moore's description and clarification from staff, and closed the hearing after finding no public speakers. Commissioners voted to approve item 19 — authorization to pursue the disposal resolution — by a 2–0 vote. Moore emphasized the action did not sell the property that day: any eventual sale would require a separate contract and acceptance on a future agenda.

The commission noted the parcel was originally purchased with quarter‑cent sales tax proceeds and that, per staff, sale proceeds will be returned to that account and used for future right‑of‑way acquisitions. The county attorney and public works staff said they will return to a future commission meeting if the county moves to accept an offer and negotiate sale terms.

The commission carried the resolution 2–0; no sale was completed at the meeting.
