Utah County commissioners approve staffing changes, a masks agreement and several procedural items

Commissioners approved a change to a staffing plan in Community Development that staff said had been approved in the 2020 budget and was affected by turnover. Bryce Armstrong, Community Development staff, told the board the request was included in the current year budget; the motion to approve passed 3–0.
On a separate regular item, commissioners approved an agreement to purchase masks for first responders and riot teams at an expense reported as $164,000; staff confirmed the expense would be charged to county COVID relief funds. The motion to authorize the chair to sign the agreement passed 3–0.
Earlier in the meeting consent item 21 was tabled because a supporting document had not been visible; staff uploaded the document during the session, the item was pulled from the table and the board later approved the item by a 3–0 vote and set a closed meeting on that item to follow the public session for strategy on pending or imminent litigation.
The board also set a closed meeting for personnel matters (character, professional competence, or health of an individual) to occur at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 in Conference Room 319. Those motions carried by recorded voice votes at the meeting.
