The commissioners approved a no‑cost pilot with Assemble Vote, a mobile polling app intended to let residents create profiles, link to their city/county and respond to targeted questions from local government.
Josh Daniels of the county clerk/auditor’s office described the app's functionality: departments can either provide questions for county‑administered polls or allow third parties to use the platform; responses include binary votes and optional follow‑ups. Daniels said the clerk’s office would curate content and suggested departments identify a point of contact to develop questions. He said the pilot would be free to the county and residents.
Commissioners discussed administration, message control and the need to craft neutral questions so the app does not become a conduit for charged political debate. One commissioner said the county should approve anything that goes out on a countywide basis and that the app could be useful for noncontroversial informational polling. The commission moved to authorize the chair to sign the letter of intent and the motion passed 3‑0.
Next steps: the clerk’s office will coordinate departmental points of contact and roll out questions as part of the pilot.
