Commissioners approve Utah County Arts Board cosponsorship and display-case project funding

The Utah County Board of County Commissioners approved a consent-item motion to authorize the commission chair to execute a cosponsorship agreement with the Utah County Arts Board for 2020.
Rochelle Wise of the Utah County Arts Board described the board’s role in rotating art exhibits at the Health and Justice Building and outlined a proposed project to build a permanent display case in a 10-foot ‘‘dead space’’ near the building restrooms. Wise told commissioners the board had secured a $500 grant from Utah Arts and Museums to help build the case, estimated the total materials cost at about $2,000, and said county public-works labor could substantially reduce the expense. Wise said the case, if built into the building, would be more durable and better match the building than a small freestanding purchase.
A commissioner moved that the board approve and authorize the commission chair to execute the cosponsorship; another commissioner seconded the motion. The board voted 3–0 to approve the consent item.
The record shows staff and the Arts Board will coordinate next steps, and the presentation noted that the $500 grant must be spent by April or returned to Utah Arts and Museums.
