Commissioners discussed whether to set the per-instance value at $50 or $100; a motion to adopt the optional policy with $100 was moved and approved 2–0.
Commissioners emphasized the policy's intent to protect employees from criminal penalties for inadvertent small uses while preserving the county's right to progressive discipline for deliberate abuse. The policy also includes language to address credit-card misuse consistent with state statute.
The resolution passed and will be added to county policy documents; staff said administrative procedures and training will follow to ensure employees understand the limits and payback process.
