Utah County recognizes Dan Miller as employee of the month for mosquito-abatement work

The Utah County Commission recognized Dan Miller as employee of the month and invited him to make brief remarks.
Miller described his long relationship with the county: he began working for Utah County in February 2007 as a seasonal employee while also teaching high school, later retired from teaching after 31 years, and returned to serve as Director of Mosquito Abatement. "I'll be very brief, but it's a privilege to work for the county," Miller said. He described improvements in the department, including integrating QPCR testing into West Nile virus control and using iPads in the field to improve response to citizen complaints.
Miller also thanked commissioners for support and singled out a commissioner who participated in a video that helped encourage horse vaccinations; he said the prior year 10 horses had died and, after the outreach, none contracted the disease.
The commission presented Miller with recognition and moved on to the business portion of the meeting.
