Utah County sets public hearing on small road vacation in Stevens Subdivision

The Utah County Commission voted 3-0 to set a public hearing on a staff-recommended request tied to development in the Stevens Subdivision that will replace an existing hammerhead with a cul-de-sac and amend several lots.
Brandon Larson, community development staff, told the commission the applicants are developing a new dwelling site north of the subdivision and the change will "basically go away" the existing hammerhead and create a new cul-de-sac. Larson said the change will vacate a small portion of county road (about a tenth of an acre) while adding about six-tenths of an acre back, and that some public utility easements will be vacated. He said staff believed a public hearing would be appropriate given the utility easement changes.
An unidentified commissioner moved to approve regular agenda item 2 (to set the public hearing); an unidentified presiding commissioner seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
The commission did not resolve the vacation or easement approvals at this meeting; it only scheduled the required public hearing for further consideration.
