The Utah County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution Oct. 16 to declare surplus a 6.42-acre parcel located at 1050 South 500 East in American Fork and ask staff to solicit offers.
Richard Nelson of Public Works said the county purchased the property about 10 to 11 years ago for a planned north-county health department facility; more recent acquisitions nearer the Jordan River and Lehi/Saratoga Springs area make consolidation of north-end county needs possible, rendering this parcel surplus to county plans. Nelson described the parcel’s location near the 50 (I-15) American Fork interchange and adjacent to dealership areas and railroad tracks.
County Attorney Robert Moore told commissioners two interested parties had contacted Public Works and recommended declaring the parcel surplus and waiting 30 days to solicit offers and notify the interested parties. The commission adopted the resolution to dispose of the parcel (motion carried 2-0) and directed staff to proceed with the 30-day marketing period.
Next steps: staff will notify the interested parties, declare the parcel surplus, and solicit offers for the 6.42-acre site.
