Staff said the proposed Class F would mirror many BASA (business) requirements of the existing Class H (facility) license but would be tailored to a caterer whose service can occur at various locations rather than at a single licensed facility.
Trustees asked whether a licensed caterer would need to seek additional village approvals for individual private events. Staff responded that once a caterer holds the local license, private events in Vernon Hills would not require separate village approval; the local license also enables the applicant to secure the necessary state license. The staff member said they will return the draft ordinance at a future meeting and that the village has an active liquor license application from the caterer.
No ordinance was adopted tonight; staff will bring the draft amendment back with ordinance language to coincide with licensure proceedings.
