Commission authorizes write‑offs tied to Everbridge billing overlap during countywide transition

Utah County commissioners approved authorization to write off certain past‑due accounts that resulted from an overlapping billing period during the county’s Everbridge vendor transition.
"When the county went to the countywide Everbridge system ... there was an automatic billing sent out to those cities," a staff member explained. Some cities already had existing Everbridge contracts and were billed for the same period the county invoiced, producing an overlap. "We had billed over that same period that it was overlapping," the staff member said.
County staff said Alpine City and Cedar Hills will join the county system going forward, and the overlap represents prior billing that the county cannot collect now. The staff also noted the county’s fees were reduced under the countywide agreement and that the overall financial outcome remained close to projections;
Commissioners moved and approved the write‑offs as presented. "So we have a motion and a second to approve, which would authorize the write off of the accounts contained in item number 1," the chair said; the motion carried 3–0.
Next steps: write‑offs will be processed administratively; county staff indicated future invoicing alignment should prevent similar overlaps.
