Utah County approves consent items, amends Republic Services contract and schedules closed meetings

The Utah County Commission handled a cluster of routine and consent matters, approving a Republic Services amendment clarifying that franchise fees may be charged in addition to collection pricing, an add-on module to the county’s Everbridge contract, and a small amendment to the Miss Utah County contract to reconcile a prior shortfall.
On consent item 4, a county representative (Speaker 9) said Republic Services requested an added clause clarifying that franchise fees are not taxes and may be charged to the county in addition to the prices listed in Exhibit B. Commissioner (Unidentified Speaker 6) moved to approve consent item 4 with the added language and the motion carried 3–0.
The commission also approved consent item 8 to add a grant-funded Everbridge module for emergency management (two-year grant term), as well as the small Miss Utah County contract amendment covering a $363.30 shortfall that staff said would be offset next year, both passed unanimously.
On property tax actions (item 13), staff recommended denial of a Hendrickson deferral because required paperwork was incomplete and the tax-sale deadline (May 19) was imminent. The commission approved the recommended property tax actions but pulled and continued the Hendrickson parcel for one week to allow the applicants to supply additional information.
Procedurally, the commission renumbered duplicate agenda items, struck items 16 and 18 from the agenda, and approved scheduling closed meetings to discuss character/professional competence/health and the sale of public property/water rights. Several motions on these routine matters passed by recorded 3–0 votes.
