Board approves a wave of permits, road closures and construction-related parking requests

The City of Evansville Board of Public Safety approved a series of permits, road closures and administrative items during its Oct. 9 meeting.
Special events: The board approved a modification to Universe of Evansville’s previously approved closure for Nov. 9 (expanding the closure to include Locust Street), Mission First’s 'Mogadishu Mile' procession on Nov. 21 (6:00 a.m.–9:30 a.m., estimated 15–30 participants, pending COI approval), University of Evansville’s multi-day "Winter on Walnut" closure Dec. 4–5, and an Annunciation Parish Eucharistic Procession for Nov. 24. Barricades were requested for several of these events.
Utility and construction closures: The board approved road closures for residential water-tap projects (Alsa Hoffman plumbing at 1212 S. Kentucky on Oct. 4; Orisky/Oriska Excavating at 652 and 648 East Louisiana on Oct. 11) and authorized Bayer’s Plumbing to close portions of Bear Park Drive Oct. 21–23 for a water main tap. A Stimley Excavating closure on North Green River Road was noted as pending until a right-of-way permit date is finalized and will be coordinated with traffic engineering.
Construction parking and permits: The board approved parking permits for Schaeffer Contractors (four vehicles at 200 North Main, Sept. 30–Oct. 20) and six permits requested by Dyke Brothers for work at the Children’s Museum (Oct. 10, 2024–May 2025). The board also approved a temporary street permit at 705 East Florida (Oct. 7–9), a container placement permit at 1828 Hawthorne Ave. (Oct. 1–Dec. 2), and reserved ADA parking on Michigan Street for the Westside Nut Club Fall Festival (Oct. 9–13).
Administrative items: The board approved surplus of one police "camera buddy," accepted a donation from the Evansville Police Foundation (appendix A), approved claims, and approved minutes from the Sept. 25 meeting. The board set its next meeting for Oct. 23 at 1:00 p.m. and then adjourned.
