Councilmember Valerie Woodall read Resolution 05-20-24 during the Oct. 29 meeting and the council adopted the proposed budget calendar for fiscal year 2026.

The resolution sets key dates for the FY2026 budget process: issuance of budget instructions to city departments on Oct. 31, 2024; department submission deadline Dec. 27, 2024; the city manager will present the proposed budget on Feb. 18, 2025; public hearing(s) are scheduled with an initial public hearing on March 22, 2025; and target dates for readings and adoption in April and May 2025 with fallback dates if further votes are needed.

Mayor Benitez asked councilmembers to confirm calendar dates; the council moved, seconded and recorded unanimous approval. The resolution notes the city charter requires submission of a proposed budget no later than March 31 and sets the adoption deadlines consistent with that requirement.
