Commissioners require recorded private-road maintenance agreement for Logan West short-plat

The commission discussed a proposed family division that would create additional homes accessed by a long private road. Applicant Logan West told the board the easement had been surveyed at 50 feet and he wanted to proceed with a single home now and defer full private-road improvements until a second home is built.
Planning staff and commissioners emphasized that a recorded private-road maintenance agreement—binding on successors and interests—is a prerequisite to final approval. Road and Bridge and the fire chief reviewed turnaround requirements and acceptable alternatives (hammerhead) for emergency access; staff said samples of recorded agreements are available and that plats should reference the recorded instrument number so future owners can find the maintenance agreement.
The board did not take final action and asked staff to bring the item back next week after the applicant submits a completed, recorded maintenance agreement and documented deviations to be considered.
