Commissioners Set Laurel Gardens CDBG Hearing, Appoint Board of Viewers for Bone Avenue Abandonment and Approve Claims

The Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 10 took several procedural actions: the board set a second public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application for Laurel Gardens, approved a resolution appointing a board of viewers for a proposed road abandonment in Lockwood, and approved routine claims and prior meeting minutes.
Chair announced a notice for a CDBG second public hearing for Laurel Gardens and Speaker 3 moved to set the hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 3108; Speaker 8 seconded and the board voted in favor.
Public Works brought Resolution 24-137 to appoint a board of viewers for the proposed abandonment of Bone Avenue (approximately Sandy Lane to Bonnie Lane in the Johnson Park subdivision). Speaker 2 described the petition: two joint property owners submitted the petition and adjacent landowners had signed in support; if the abandonment is approved the area will be replatted. Speaker 3 moved to approve Resolution 24-137 and specified the board of viewers as John Oslon (Yellowstone County Commissioner), Jeff Martin (Clerk and Recorder), Laura Maddox (Transportation Planning Coordinator) and Logan McIsaac (Yellowstone County Public Works Project Manager). The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Speaker 8 moved to approve claims numbered 25-022 through 25-025; the motion was seconded and commissioners voted 'aye' to approve the claims.
The board also approved the August 27 and Sept. 3, 2024 meeting minutes after a motion by Speaker 3 and a second by Speaker 1.
No substantive public comments on county business were recorded during the final call for public comments at the close of the meeting.
