Commission ratifies three‑year probation order for educator Joel Brandon Boone

The Commission ratified an agreed order July 11 involving educator Joel Brandon Boone (license no. 246386) after the Office of Educator Misconduct presented allegations and terms.

Scott DeYoung of the Office of Educator Misconduct told the commission the office received an Appendix C complaint from a local school district alleging the respondent violated Standard 4 of the educator code of ethics. The respondent consented to the agreed order, which places the license on probation for three calendar years and requires Boone, at his expense, to submit a letter from a physician or licensed psychologist attesting he is fit to resume duties by Aug. 6, 2025; failure to submit the attestation will result in immediate suspension for one calendar year. The order also requires Boone, at his expense, to complete no fewer than three hours of coursework or a seminar related to educator ethics before the probationary period ends. Any violation during probation will trigger an automatic one‑year suspension, after which the respondent must petition for reinstatement; the commission retains authority to reinstate by majority vote following satisfactory evidence of rehabilitation.

A commissioner moved to ratify the agreed order and the commission ratified it by voice vote. The action was presented as a single agreed order; staff indicated other matters had been processed but were informational for the meeting.
