Utah County approves Amazon Business account to centralize purchasing and save on shipping

The Utah County Commission unanimously authorized the purchasing agent to enter into an Amazon Business membership for county purchasing, the board said after a brief discussion about procurement logistics.

County staff explained the change is intended to allow departments to use a single, business-level Amazon account rather than individual Prime subscriptions. An official explained the business account can be managed by the purchasing manager and, if procurement rules are followed, can provide zero shipping costs on orders over a set threshold and permit tax-exempt purchases.

The motion to approve the agreement was made and seconded; the commission voted 3–0 to carry the item.
