Residents urge recusal over Lampson ties and press city to restore LaSalle TV programming

During oral communications on Oct. 21, two residents raised separate concerns: one alleging a potential conflict tied to the Lampson development and another urging the city to restore LaSalle TV programming.
Christine Arf Wetson told the council that a post on a council member’s personal Facebook page showed a consultant for KB Holmes, John Gabbard, assisting Council member Tanya Dobie’s reelection campaign. "Accepting help from a consultant for a company that will have business in front of this council…that is a problem," Wetson said, adding she believes Dobie should "recuse yourself from any vote regarding any decisions concerning Lampson Project."
Wetson also criticized a proposed Measure X, saying it would expand term limits, potentially require residents to register as lobbyists to speak to council, and allow staff to approve projects up to $125,000 without bids or advertising—measures she said reduce transparency.
Later in the public comment period, John Underwood addressed a programming freeze on LaSalle TV. "LaSalle TV has been frozen out of event calendar, of production, current production, and of this all important election cycle," Underwood said, urging staff and council to "expedite the return of LaSalle TV to proper current operational footing" so community programming and candidate forums can air.
These were public comments, not council findings; the council did not announce any immediate policy changes in response during the meeting.
