Under HB 15 60, TDLR will let establishments offer barbering and cosmetology under one license; new signage and sanitation rules take effect

TDLR said establishments may operate both barbering and cosmetology services under one 'barbering-cosmetology establishment' license (optional). New combined sanitation postings and a five-language human-trafficking sign must be displayed Jan. 1, 2023; license display options and an expanded barber scope (body waxing) were described.
TDLR program staff told summit attendees that the merger of barbering and cosmetology laws creates an option — not a requirement — for establishments to offer both services under a single license.
