Evansville board approves $1.24 million Trapeze contract to replace transit tracking system

The Board of Public Works on Oct. 3 approved a five-year contract with Trapeze Software Group Inc. to replace the city's existing bus-tracking software.
City transit staff presented the contract amount as $1,244,823 and said the system will provide real-time vehicle tracking, turn-by-turn routing and trip planning. Mister Robertson, speaking for transit, said the current system is sunsetting and the new software and hardware would be installed and ready by Jan. 2, 2025.
Board members asked whether the new software would integrate with other city services; Robertson said the product is tailored for transit and staff did not expect it to dovetail with other systems. The contract includes removal of legacy equipment, installation of new hardware and deployment of the software platform.
The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the contract. No alternate proposals were presented during the meeting; City Legal reviewed and facilitated the agreement before it was brought to the board.
The contract replaces a system the city described as being discontinued by its owner and is intended to support scheduling and rider information ahead of next year. The board took no further action beyond approving the contract and did not set additional conditions or amendments on the record.
