Dave Anderson, West Lafayette utility director, joined by bond counsel Dennis Houghton, introduced a bond ordinance at the pre-council meeting to fund expansion of the city’s wet weather treatment facility and construction of a new laboratory and administration building at the wastewater plant site. Anderson said the ordinance covers funding mechanisms and project elements; Houghton was present as counsel to answer legal questions.
The chair noted the ordinance is lengthy (about 37 pages) and encouraged newer council members to review the materials before the regular meeting. Anderson and Houghton indicated they will be available to answer questions at the Tuesday meeting, where the item will receive further consideration.
Next steps: item scheduled for first reading and additional discussion at Tuesday’s council meeting; staff indicated they will provide more detail then.
