The Houston Public School District board approved a resolution supporting the district's application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation and voted to accept several monetary donations to student programs.

During old-business consideration, the board approved a resolution stating the district "supports the school's application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a grant to offset student activity fees." The motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded and the board carried the motion.

Separately, the board accepted donor contributions to support district programs. The minutes record a donation of $1,750 to the backpack program and a $2,500 donation from an American Legion post to help purchase microphones for the drama club; the board conducted a roll-call vote and accepted the donations. Administrators said the American Legion contribution will be divided among students participating on the Washington, D.C., trip to help cover food expenses.

Board members took no further fiscal action at the meeting beyond accepting the resolution and donations; staff will proceed with the grant application process and with processing the accepted donations through district accounting.
