Holmdel central office reports ESY wrap, transition program partnership and facilities work

District administrators briefed the board on summer programs, student supports, facilities projects and transportation readiness for the school year.

Director Lamoglia said the Extended School Year program concluded Aug. 15 with culminating family activities and that case‑management letters will be sent to families this week. She described a partnership with Brookdale Community College's new Center for Adult Transition (administered by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education) that provides transition opportunities for students ages 20–26; the district is subsidizing the first two years at a discounted rate.

Business office staff reported they are working with broker Brown & Brown to obtain claims history to inform benefits‑market analysis and that they will present updates once state data is received. Buildings and grounds completed a shared‑services lighting project with the township; once final bills are in, the board will see a capital‑reserve transfer item for approval.

Transportation staff said the district will host school‑bus safety events and has been coordinating routes and contractors ahead of school start. Facility work in multiple gyms—padding and multipurpose space improvements—was noted as in progress.

Safety and student‑support training was also discussed: Mr. Howard described upcoming HIV and anti‑bullying trainings for anti‑bullying specialists, counselors and administrators, and noted he completed a rigorous master‑trainer course in anti‑bullying that will inform district training.

Next steps: administrators will provide follow‑up on benefits claims data, capital transfer amounts for board approval, and finalize training schedules.
