Tempe Union honors Mountain Pointe Choir, Dance Tempe residencies; Nationwide grant noted

Acting Superintendent Dr. Wilson recognized two district arts programs during the governing board meeting.
Dr. Wilson announced Mountain Pointe Choir placed among the top five in Nationwide’s high school jingle challenge; the contest awards a $5,000 contribution to each winning school. Sophomore Jackson Ramirez, speaking for the choir, thanked the board and said the funds will support choir activities: "This is truly, it truly means a lot and this money will do great things for our choir." An assistant principal of activities, identified earlier as Don Baker, also thanked the board and relayed appreciation from choir director Kaysen Cole, who was unable to attend.
Dr. Wilson also highlighted the district’s participation in Dance Tempe, a city-supported program run by Tempe Community Arts that places professional dance artists in district schools. He named resident dance artists and called out dance teachers from each Tempe Union high school, and thanked city staff (including named city staff) for assistance with funding and coordination of the program.
The recognitions were presented as part of the acting superintendent’s report; no board vote was required.
