Mayor Ed Lee and Supervisor London Breed praised the public‑private partnership as a model for creating pathways into well‑paying construction careers near large projects such as the Chase Center and other billion‑dollar developments across the city. Graduates and instructors described intensive physical and technical training (including a five‑mile conditioning component) and early placement results: several trainees reported starting on job sites within days of completion.
JPMorgan Chase and Warriors representatives said their investments would extend beyond the pilot: Chase announced a broader local workforce commitment in the region and the Warriors highlighted community‑engagement targets. Contractors and union representatives praised the program’s focus on apprenticeship readiness and inclusive hiring.
Organizers said this pilot is a first step; they plan to expand similar targeted training for hospitality, tech and healthcare sectors, and to track outcomes for job placement and retention.
