Raytown approves multiple public works contracts and grants, including Woodson Road stormwater project and emergency 75th Street repair

During its Oct. 1 meeting the Raytown Board approved a series of public-works measures and a parks grant intended to address stormwater and tree-maintenance needs across the city.
Woodson Road stormwater improvement: Public Works staff (Jason Hansen) reported competitive bids for the Woodson Road stormwater improvement project (north of 55th Street). Eight firms bid; the low base bid was $320,000 and staff recommended the low bidder, Bay Construction, with a 10% contingency to set a not-to-exceed contract amount of $352,294.80. The board approved the resolution authorizing the city administrator to execute the agreement and funding for the project.
Park-tree inventory grant: Parks Director Dave Turner presented a Missouri Department of Conservation TRIM grant request for $24,027 to update the Parks Department’s tree inventory and complete necessary tree maintenance on park properties. The grant is 90% reimbursable; the board approved acceptance of the grant.
Emergency 75th Street stormwater repair and professional services: Public Works reported an emergency stormwater failure near 10702 E. 75th Street (visible collapse adjacent to the roadway). Staff requested use of available ARPA funds to cover the $126,415 repair estimate and recommended awarding professional services to Leith/Leath and Sons Inc. to perform the emergency repair under an existing point-repair contract. The board authorized use of ARPA funds and approved the professional services agreement.
What happens next: Staff will proceed with contract execution for the Woodson Road project, proceed with reimbursement and procurement steps related to the TRIM grant, and begin contracting and repairs at the 75th Street emergency site. Public Works will coordinate permits and contractor oversight and will monitor project budgets and contingency usage.
