Commissioners table ordinance to create county plan commission amid city negotiations

Commissioner Gable moved to table the ordinance, saying negotiations with the city are ongoing and that a written interlocal agreement has not yet been provided for review.
Commissioner Musgrave declined to second the tabling motion, arguing a two-reading process would still allow negotiations to continue while advancing the ordinance on a standard timeline. Commissioners exchanged views about site-review procedures, potential video-conferencing changes, and how the county’s proposed process would provide additional accountability. Staff said many changes discussed could be implemented without ordinance change.
The motion to table the ordinance was seconded and carried, leaving the proposal for a separate county plan commission on hold while staff and commissioners continue negotiations with city officials. The clerk and staff said the written interlocal agreement needs to be shared and reviewed before resuming action.
