The Evansville Land Bank on Oct. 18 approved several administrative and operational motions, including a salary increase for the Land Bank inspector, renewals of listing agreements, retention of its regular auditor and authorization for a small property acquisition.
Board members voted to raise the monthly salary for the Land Bank inspector to $2,700 and approved renewal of the inspector’s contract after Jessica (Speaker 4) told the board the inspector had taken on work “beyond the scope of his original contract.” Board member (Speaker 2) moved the salary increase and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also accepted the September 2024 financial statements. Jessica (Speaker 4) told the board there were no property sales in September and that the City’s contribution was deposited Oct. 3 and therefore would appear in October’s statements. A motion to accept the financials passed by voice vote.
For audit services, the Land Bank voted to retain Kemper CPA Group for 2024 year-end services; the board noted Kemper has provided the Land Bank’s annual audit in prior years and approved another engagement by voice vote.
On property listings, the board reviewed a packet of parcels listed with local brokers at prices ranging from $7,000 to $19,500 with an approved broker fee of $3,000. Chair (Speaker 1) and Jessica (Speaker 4) told the board that agent Mindy Windward would assume listings if Angie Bullock opted not to continue; the board voted to renew listings accordingly.
The board authorized Jessica (Speaker 4) to make an offer of up to $1,000 to the Vanderburgh County Commissioners to acquire 12 East Franklin, a cleared lot where the county completed demolition and removed liens and taxes. The motion, moved by Board member (Speaker 5) and seconded by Board member (Speaker 2), passed by voice vote.
