The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility Board opened bids Sept. 3 for the US 41 DES 2000987 water relocation project (U1236), an upcoming Indianapolis Department of Transportation-linked project on the north side of town along Highway 41 between Mount Pleasant and Boonville New Harmony Road.
Jennifer explained that the city coordinated utilities with INDOT and that INDOT revised scope while the project was out to bid, prompting modifications to the utility plan and an extension of the bid opening date. The board read four bids: Dye Brothers ($197,675), Blankenberger Brothers ($115,115), Sam Trucking and Excavating Inc. ($162,946) and Oversteam Contracting Inc. ($112,295). Jennifer recommended that designer Clark Dietz, city purchasing and city compliance review the submissions.
A motion to take the bids under advisement for future award carried by voice vote. Staff said they would return with a recommendation after designer review and procurement checks.
