Hamilton Council approves multiple ordinances and consent items, schedules follow-ups

The Hamilton Township Council on Sept. 17 moved and approved a multi-item consent agenda and advanced several ordinances on first or second readings.
On the consent agenda (CA 1'CA 20) the council reauthorized two grants (a K-9 COP grant and a health-infrastructure grant), renewed membership in the Garden State Municipal Joint Insurance Fund, authorized lease agreements for farming and compost activities, extended adoption-fee waivers through October, and approved authorization for curb and ADA ramp work by Diamond Construction on Liberty Street. The council took the consent agenda by motion and recorded a unanimous roll call.
On ordinances, the council completed second reading and public hearing on Ordinance 1-24-032, an appropriation ordinance providing for various capital improvements and authorizing $6,165,357 in general obligation notes toward a $6,489,850 appropriation; it passed on a recorded roll call. Several other land-use and traffic ordinances were introduced or advanced on first reading, including ordinances addressing commercial filming permits and revisions to residential district regulations. The council also referred proposed zoning-code amendments (24-366 and 24-368) to the planning board for review pursuant to NJSA 40:55D-26.
Councilmembers and residents raised other items during the meeting for follow-up: a resident complaint about construction dust at a large remediation/development site prompted administration to confirm DEP and OSHA visits and to report back; a request to explore the Street Smart pedestrian-safety program and related grant opportunities was noted for staff follow-up; and council confirmed its next meeting date as Oct. 15.
